High energy, inclusive, fun.

We’re a group of New York City cyclists, passionate about creating a safe, competitive and inclusive riding and racing environment at our beloved track, the Kissena Velodrome.

Help celebrate our 60th anniversary by spectating, racing, learning to ride track bikes or making a donation.

We’re especially proud to be home to the Star Track Youth Cycling Program.

Star Track is a free, urban youth outreach program created to teach New York City area kids the fundamentals of track cycling at Kissena Velodrome in Queens.

Founded in 2004, Star Track has helped thousands of children — many from under-resourced areas of the city — discover the joy of bike racing.

The program provides the opportunity to join a competitive cycling team with elite riders, and Star Track racers have earned more than 35 National Championship jerseys.

History

In 1962, Robert Moses built the Kissena Velodrome on Booth Memorial Avenue at Parsons Boulevard in Flushing, Queens. The track was envisioned as a showcase, and indeed it was: Our velodrome was featured as an attraction at the 1964 World’s Fair, and served as the host of the 1964 Olympic trials. Local racers dominated the trials, taking five of eight places on the U.S. squad.

Kissena would become known as the “track of dreams,” and so it remains today. From New York City kids just discovering the thrill of riding their bikes fast and aiming for the stars, to elite racers honing their technique and tactics with their sights on national and international championships … anyone who loves bikes and a sense of community loves our track and our family.

The 400-meter velodrome is made from NYC street asphalt, a cult track reminiscent of a city street. Bumpy, cracked, uneven – thrilling, fast, unpredictable – everything New York City.

 Where do you come in?

Come visit! If you’re not already a track racer, you can feel the excitement by spectating at our races on Wednesday nights and weekends. See the events calendar for details. Or, when races or clinics aren’t going on, you can bring your own bike and just ride around the oval on your own (watch out for track racers doing their own training, though).

Want to take the next step? We offer clinics, complete with loaner track bikes, to teach you the basics in just a few hours. You’ll get to know our diverse and welcoming community and experience a part of New York City that can be your own special haven. Details are here.

If you’re already a track racer, sign up for our Wednesday or weekend events. Here are the details.
